All’arrivo dell’estate il mio più grande desiderio è infilarmi in una lavatrice e uscirne, asciugata, strizzata e profumata. Pronta per il sole e una leggera abbronzatura. Non potendolo fare, mi ritrovo sempre a spendere una buona parte della vacanza usando il mare come se fossi in palestra: nuoto, acquagim, acquatonic, corsa sulla sabbia…e poi frutta, verdura, verdura e frutta, niente pane e tanti sospiri. Ecco, il mio problema è che tutto questo dura al massimo 10 minuti al giorno e quindi i benefici li vedo quando al posto della gonnellina è tempo di golf e spolverini. Veloce di pensiero e pigra di passo!
A fine estate seppur dorata e nulla di più, sembro un Ringo perchè amo indossare i costumi interi. Che denotano per me un’eleganza seza tempo e ci rendono molto più sexy di alcuni bikini che amo lasciare alle fanciulle che sanno indossarli senza essere fraintese. Si capisce quando sfoglio una rivista gossipara estiva dalla quantità di: “ma che orrore!” riesco a pronunciare in breve tempo. Lo ammetto, le persone che d’estate diventano africane non mi piacciono e ancor meno quelle che pensano di essere Bo Derek in Ten senza essere passate dallo specchio.
Evviva le donne e gli uomini che non dimenticano l’eleganza per pura vanità!…Godiamoci un tuffo senza troppi pensieri, assaporando l’impatto nell’acqua fredda che porta quei brividi che ci fanno strizzare e sentire vivi. Splash!.
When the Summer comes my strongest wish is that of getting into a washing machine to come out fully dried up, wrung and scented. Ready for the sun and for a light sun-tan. As I can’t do that, I usually end up spending most of the Summer time using the seaside as if I were in a gym: swimming, doing some water aerobics, aquatonic, jogging on the sand … and then fruit and vegetables, vegetables and fruit, no bread and a lot of sighs. So, my problem is that all this lasts ten minutes a day at the very longest, and all advantages will be only revealed when it is time to wear pullovers and duster coats and to put off nice short skirts. My thoughts run fast, but my pace is slow!
When the Summer draws to its end, although golden brown – no more than that, I look like a Ringo biscuit ‘cause I love wearing one-piece swimsuits. In my opinion they are the hallmark of an evergreen elegance and make us look much sexier than some bikinis I’d rather leave to those young girls who are able to wear them without fearing being misinterpreted. When I leaf through a Summer gossip magazine this comes out from the number of “That’s horrible!” I can utter in a short time. I do admit, people turning into Africans during Summer time I really don’t like, and I like even less those who pretend to be Bo Derek in the movie Ten without having checked themselves in the mirror before.
Long live those men and women who do not give up refinement out of sheer vanity! … Let’s have a light-hearted dive, enjoying plunging into the cold water, shivering enough to feel squeezed and alive. Splash!
Ho faticato ad uscire dal mio periodo giallo, mi sembrava di non aver ancora esaurito il bisogno di averlo intorno. Ma ora che noto e sento solo il blu, è di lui che voglio parlare. Nella nuova casa sarà uno dei colori dominanti. Cerco e ricerco materiali e idee, ho trovato delle sedute fatte con i tubolari delle biciclette esattamente del blu che amo…arriveranno nella mia nuova casa? Sarà una sorpresa! Lo specchio sulla parete della sala da pranzo deve essere blu ma per ora la mia ricerca mi ha portato ad avere un campione di specchio anticato che non è esattamente ciò che cerco. Blu sarà la moquette di Kasthall nella zona dedicata agli armadi e blu le piastrelline nella doccia…sarà sarà e sarà blu! ma ora mi accontento di mettere lo smalto di questo magnifico colore, Chanel non si smentisce mai sulle sue nuances.
It was a tough task for me to come out of my yellow period. I felt I still needed to have it all around me. But now that it’s only blue I can see and feel, I am going to speak right about it. In my new home the colour blue will be one of the prominent hues. I am on the constant lookout for materials and ideas; I’ve found some seats made with the bike’s tubular elements exactly in the blue tone I love … will they be part of my new home’s decor? That’s gonna be a surprise! The mirror hanging from the dining room’s wall shall be blue, but so far I’ve been only able to find out a sample of a distressed mirror which does not properly meet my desire. Blue will be the colour of the wall-to-wall carpet by Kasthall in the wardrobe area, and blue will be the small tiles in the shower … it will and will and will be blue! Anyway I am content now to be wearing the nail varnish in this wonderful colour – Chanel’s nuances never fail to be great.
Oggi Milano si sveglia con un sole quasi estivo e due care amiche con un anno di più. Sono sorelle e gemelle. Ovviamente dei gemelli. Esci con due amiche ma ti ritrovi a fare i conti con 4 personalità non sempre lineari e sicuramente dirompenti. Se esci con loro devi essere pronta a cambiare strada, festa, idea e meta almeno un paio di volte nell’arco della stessa serata e quindi butta alle ortiche il tuo lato precisetto e lascia che le 2 x 2 ti conducano senza porti troppi ma. Divertente? La vita con loro è intensa, energetica e molto molto frizzante. Quasi come lo champagne. Sono l’una Architetto e l’altra Grafica ed Interior Designer, un mix di idee raffinate che rendono le case che progettano dei luoghi che strappano a chi li visita un tripudio di wow e di sospiri. Al cinquantesimo wow ti rianimano con un calice di bolle e un sorriso ineguagliabile. Sono uniche e brave, talmente brave che seppur giovanissime Electa ha pubblicato un libro su di loro. Se volete sognare, basta il libro. Io mi preparo ai festeggiamenti che sicuramente saranno indimenticabili e allora forse un libro glielo dedicherò io…ma incominciamo da qui! Come si chiamano? Milano wakes up today when an almost Summer sun is shining and two dear friends of mine turn a year older. They are sisters and twins. Zodiacal sign Gemini of course. You’re going out with two friends, but it’s four different personalities you have to reckon with, and they are not always consistent, definitely explosive though. If you decide you’ll go out with them, you have to get ready for possible changes in direction, party, idea and destination at least twice in the same evening. So kick off your fussy side and let the 2 x 2 lead you anywhere without objecting too much. Amusing? Life is a deep experience with them, energetic, very very sparkling. Sort of champagne. The one is an architect and the other is a Graphic and Interior designer, a mix of refined ideas which morph the houses they design into places where people can’t but exult in a series of wows and sighs. When you reach the fiftieth wow they will revive you with a goblet of bubbles and an unrivalled smile. They are unique and very good, so good that, despite their very young age, Electa has issued a book on them. Are you willing to dream a bit? Well, reading the book will be enough. I’m getting ready for the celebrations which are going to be unforgettable, and then I might also come up with the idea of dedicating them a book myself … but let’s start from here! In America è usanza comune rivendere mobili e oggetti che non si vogliono più in casa. Generalmente si svuotano i garage che con il tempo diventano dei veri magazzini dell’orrore. Bene, in vista della ristrutturazione di casa, del cambiamento di stile e di spazi, ho organizzato il mio garage sale mettendo in vendita tutto ciò che la casa conteneva. Il patto con mio marito era fare “tabula rasa” e quindi non farsi indebolire dai sentimentalismi. Il bancone vendita che arrivava da uno dei negozi di famiglia che ha contenuto foto, tovaglie, disegni, idee e più di tutto: ricordi. L’armadio gigantesco in noce della nonna (di mio marito) bellissimo, imponente ma che contiene la metà di uno nuovo…una coppia di abat-jour comprate durante un giro in provenza che non si sono mai sposate con l’arredo e così via. Tutto in vendita, agli amici e amici di amici che con entusiasmo sono venuti a bere un bicchiere di vino e sono usciti con una sedia sotto braccio. Ogni giorno la casa si svuota di un pezzettino di storia ma nonostante un po’ di malinconia, sono così felice di ricominciare, di fare un nuovo progetto sulle esigenze reali di tutti i componenti di questa mia micro famiglia. La casa era prima un mix molto di charme di cose ereditate o acquistate da noi sapendo che però prima o poi avremmo dovuto pensare ad un cambiamento. Ora, inizia un nuovo capitolo e lo scriviamo interamente noi. Evviva!!! Inoltre a voler ben vedere, risparmiamo su trasloco e magazzino che sarebbe stato necessario per i mesi della ristrutturazione…non male!
It’s a common habit in America to sell furnishings and items you no longer wish to keep at home. The garages are generally the places which get emptied out, and they turn into real horror storehouses in the course of time. Well, considering my house being renovated, the style and the room settings being changed, I have arranged my garage sale putting up on sale the whole collection of items my house used to contain. I had agreed with my husband on making a clean sweep of all, not yielding to any sentimentalism whatsoever. The selling counter coming from one of my family’s shops, which used to keep pictures, table cloths, drawings, ideas and above all memories. The huge walnut wardrobe which belonged to (my husband’s) Granny, very nice, stately, but whose capacity is half the one of a new cabinet … a couple of table lamps we bought on a travel through Provence we were never able to match with the interior design, and so forth. Everything on sale, to friends and to our friends’ friends who came enthusiastically to drink a glass of wine and left the place carrying a chair arm-in-arm. Every day my house gets rid of a bit of history, but, although I do feel a bit melancholic, I am so happy to start anew, to carry out a fresh project catering to the real needs of each member of this micro-family of mine. The house used to be sort of most charming mixture of inherited or self-bought items, but we were aware that we’d have to consider changing sooner or later. A new chapter is being written, and we are the only writers. Hurrah! And further to that, on second thoughts, we will save money on moving and storing furniture, which would have been necessary over the months of the renovation works … not bad!

The Board is a preview on the matter we’re gonna go through in the blog, a sort of visual contents.This month, renovate house!
Ho 20 giorni per traslocare, follia. Devo stare fuori casa per almeno 5 mesi, doppia follia. Devo consegnare il progetto tecnico, dei materiali, dei punti luce, dei rivestimenti…entro 10 giorni, ma allora sono pazza da legare! Così le mie giornate volano tra richieste di preventivi, studio dei materiali e sguardi persi nel vuoto cercando di immaginarmi come verrà. Vi racconto di questa nuova avventura, partendo dalla cucina.
Ma lo sapevate che ci sono degli standard di qualità sulle cucine che spiegano le differenze di costi? Ecco per voi, un elenco di punti a cui dovete fare attenzione se dovete comprare una cucina:
1) GS: marchio di qualità tedesco. Si ottiene solo dopo verifiche accurate (stabilità, sicurezza negli impianti elettrici, assenza di spigoli pericolosi, uso di vetri temperati, rispetto delle norme e dei limiti sulle emissioni tossiche, durata delle cerniere, portata delle guide dei cassetti, resistenza a flessione dei piani etc…)
2) ISO14001 Norma internazionale da cui deriva una delle certificazioni ambientali più importanti.
3) FSC Garantisce che il legno marchiato FSC proviene da foreste gestite mantenendo biodiversità, le funzioni ecologiche e pertanto reali benefici alle comunità locali.
4) VERO LEGNO e non “pannello di legno agglomerato o pannello di particelle legnose” che significano interno in trucciolare ed esterno con legno di 0,5 mm di spessore
In una cucina sono importanti le altezze, l’ergonomia e degli elettrodomestici che garantiscano oltre al risparmio energetico il rispetto delle norme di sicurezza.Ora però dimentichiamoci dei tecnicismi e guardiamoci un po’ di foto “golose”.
In almost three weeks I have got to move house. Sheer folly! I’ll have to live elsewhere for five months at least. Double sheer folly! Within ten days I’ll have to submit the layout, the material, lighting, covering design – well, I’m really crazy! My days go by while I’m busy asking for cost previsions, checking materials and staring into space trying to figure out what it’s going to look like. I will tell you about this new adventure of mine, starting from the kitchen.
Did you know that there are some quality standards for kitchens according to which the different costs can be clearly explained? Here you go with a list of the main items you have to pay attention at in case you should decide to buy a kitchen:
1) GS: German quality brand. It can only be attained after accurate checks (stability, safety of electrical systems, absence of dangerous edges, emplyment of hardened glass, compliance with the rules and the prescriptions pertaining to toxic emissions, durability of hinges, load bearing of drawers’ runners, bending strength of the tops, and so on ).
2) ISO 14001 International Rule which generates one of the most relevant environmental certifications.
3) FSC which guarantees that the FSC branded wood has been harvested in forests whose management is carried out in the respect of biodiversity, environmental functions and real profits for the local communities.
4) REAL WOOD and not “panel of wooden chipboard or panel of wooden particles” which means chipboard for the interior section and a wooden 0,5 mm. thick veneer. Heights are important for a kitchen alongside the ergonomics of household appliances which can allow you to comply with safety rules besides providing energy saving. But now let’s stop with technical matters and let’s have a look at some “succulent” pictures.

Questa casa non é un albergo.
Non ci sono numeri sulle porte né chiavi sulle stanze.
Non c’é il portiere in livrea blu.
Non c’é hall, né sala ristorante.
A Villa Rosmarino non si soggiorna… si vive.
Da questo piccolo luogo incantato sono passata un week end di inizio marzo. I due proprietari, passavano ogni vacanza e fine settimana a Camogli sognando un futuro lontano dalla frenetica Milano, capitarono a Villa Rosmarino, allora decadente ma ricca di fascino, ma non era in vendita. Qualche anno dopo fu Villa Rosmarino a cercare loro e così il sogno venne recuperato dal cassetto e iniziarono i lunghi lavori di restauro. All’inizio era pensata solo come la loro dimora con tante camere per amici in seguito decisero che sarebbe stato ancor più bello poterla condividere con persone di tutto il mondo. Ecco perchè rimane una casa, che ti regala silenzio, spontaneità. E’ intima e discreta, ti accoglie tra quadri e opere d’arte moderne, vasi, libri, poltrone anni 50 rivestite con tessuti di Giò Ponti. La colazione della mattina si svolge tutta intorno allo stesso tavolo, come in una grande famiglia. Puoi decidere di leggere un giornale mangiando focaccia, macedonia di frutta fresca, marmellate, yogurt…
o di scoprire che il tuo vicino viene dall’Australia per la Sagra del pesce, antica tradizione di Camogli dal 1952 – che io non conoscevo – dove in enormi pentoloni il paese offre frittura di pesce per tutti. Seguendo il suggerimento del proprietario siamo andati a fare la passeggiata di San Rocco, con un panorama sul golfo di Portofino da perdere il fiato, e poi “gambe sotto il tavolo” nella Cucina di Nonna Nina. Un tripudio di sapori e profumi liguri, Fugassette a-u formaggio, Taglierini con moscardini novelli, Bagnum di acciughe…Beati noi e i nipoti di Nonna Nina!

Early in March, at a weekend, I passed by this small magic place. The couple of owners used to spend each holiday and weekend in Camogli, dreaming of a future far from hectic Milan, and they happened to come across Villa Rosmarino, then in decay though very charming, but it was not on sale. Some years later it was Villa Rosmarino which watched out for them, so their long-held dream was resumed, and the long restoration works got started. Continua a leggere

Vorrei una casa così, dove il flou elettrizza, i fiori vivacizzano e le righe uniscono. Vorrei entrarci con gli occhiali da sole, dimenticare che fuori piove e immergermi nel buon umore. La città è grigia, la mia casa ideale è energia pura. Come fare un buon mix senza esagerare? Partite dai dettagli. Una piccola parete, una porta, il tessuto di una vecchia poltrona…un vecchio termosifone, una mensola…anche, solo, una tazza!. Attenzione! vietato il mix nella camera da letto, il riposo è campo neutro per i sognatori.

I wish I had a house like that, with a thrilling soft focus, brightening-up flowers and joining stripes. I wish I could get in wearing my sunglasses, forgetting it’s raining outside and plunging into a good mood. The city looks grey, my ideal home is sheer energy. How can we come to a good mix leaving out exaggerations? Start from details then. A small wall, a door, the fabric of an old armchair … an old radiator, a shelf … even a single cup! Pay attention though! Any mix forbidden in the bedroom: a resting place shall be a neutral ground for dreamers.
