Dal latino rubens (rosso) è il sinonimo di colorato.
Appariscente, intenso, stimolante è il simbolo dell’amore e della passione. Guardate per qualche minuto una luce rossa e il cuore batte all’impazzata.
La scelta del rosso corrisponde ad uno stato d’attivazione, ad uno slancio diretto verso la conquista, ad un desiderio ardente ed in espansione. Il rosso rappresenta, infatti, la mobilitazione di tutte le energie, cui corrisponde la sicurezza di sè, la fiducia nelle proprie forze e capacità.
Il rosso rende loquaci, aperti, premurosi, passionali.
E Cappuccetto…Rosso? I bambini vestivano questo colore per essere tenuti d’occhio anche da lontano ma anche perchè è un colore ricorrente nelle favore. Si parla di tre colori base del sistema antico. Rosso, nero e bianco. Un bambino rosso porta un vasetto di burro bianco a una nonna vestita di nero. Biancaneve riceve una mela rossa da una strega nera, il corvo nero si lascia sfuggire il formaggio -bianco- che finisce tra le zampe di una volpe rossa.
Il rosso resterà anche il colore dell’abito da sposa fino al XIX secolo. Sopratutto i contadini che sfoggiavano il loro abito più bello e all’epoca il rosso rappresentava il bello e il lusso. E’ il colore di Natale, dei divieti, delle ferite e dei conti in banca…come il mio!
Non dormite nel rosso, non avreste un buon sonno. Ma è perfetto per alcune macchine d’epoca o sulle unghie laccate delle donne francesi che da sempre lo portano con orgoglio. Nel mio lavoro il rosso è sempre una patata bollente, difficilissimo trovare quella punta di rosso che non sia volgare, che non sia troppo arancio, troppo spento o bruciato.Rosso, ammetto: tu mi turbi!

Stare at a red light for a couple of minutes and your heart will beat like crazy. The choice of red is tantamount to activation, to a rush towards the conquest, to a fervent and growing desire. As a matter of fact red stands for the mobilisation of all energies and is equal to self-confidence, to the trust in your own strength and skills. Red makes you talkative, direct, solicitous, passionate. And what about Little … Red Riding Hood? Kids used to dress in this colour in order to be easily detectable even from a distance, and also because red is a recurrent hue in fairy tales. Three are the basic colours of the ancient system. Red, black and white. A red kid is taking a white butter jar to a black-dressed Granny. Snow White is given a red apple from a black witch, the black raven drops a piece of – white – cheese which falls on the paws of a red fox. Red will be the colour of wedding dresses up to the XIX century. Peasants above all would show off their smartest garments, and at that time red was the symbol of beauty and luxury. It’s the colour of Christmas, of prohibitions, of wounds and of bank accounts in the red… like mine! Don’t sleep in red linens, you might not sleep well. It’s perfect though for some vintage cars or for the varnished fingernails of French women who have been proudly wearing it all the time. In my job red is always a hot potato: it’s a hard task to find out that red hue which is not rude, not too orange, not too dull or rusty. Red, let’s face it: you trouble me!
