La mia famiglia è molto creativa, ci sono stati anni in cui ha prodotto degli originali costumi di carnevale. Sognavo di essere una fatina, con scarpette scintillanti e bacchetta magica e mi sono ritrovata con una tunica bianca con attaccati qua e là dei batuffoli di cotone…ero la neve!.
Molto concettuale e altrettanto infelice. I travestimenti standar che piacciono ai bambini, piacciono un po’ meno a me oggi da adulta…ma i bambini sono bambini.
Ecco allora alcune idee molto “cosy” che mi hanno regalato sorrisi. Sono convinta che siano i genitori a trasmettere la magia del travestimento e ad insegnare l’uso della fantasia ai propri figli. Coraggio, buttiamoci!

My family is most creative, and in the past years they made some unique Carnival costumes. I used to dream of being a cosy fairy wearing glittering shoes and holding a magic wand just to find myself dressed up with a white tunic with some cotton wads scattered all over… I was the snow! Highly conceptual and unhappy to the same extent. The usual dressing-ups children like so much are not as much appreciated by me nowadays as an adult … but children are children. So here you go with some really cosy ideas which cheered me up. I believe it’s parents who pass on the magic of fancy dressing to their own children. Well, come on then and heart and soul into the matter! Long live the Carnival!

“…Conto fino a tre! Se non siete tutti a letto in pigiama e con i denti lavati sono guai…niente Carosello per due giorni!”
E allora bimbi, tutti a letto!
Ma non dimentichiamoci che l’entrata nel mondo di Morfeo non è sempre immediata e che bisogna lasciarsi andare e cadere lentamente nel sonno. I bambini usano quei momenti per ricordare, fantasticare e sognare ad occhi aperti. Un letto è un letto, ma il letto può essere qualcosa in più? Siii…è un rigugio sicuro, un magico arredo che li trasforma in principi o regine, un dinamico trampolino e tanto altro. Allora mi tuffo con voi nel fantastico mondo delle camere per bimbi di tutti i tipi. Monelli, seri, spiritosi, numerosi e unici. Iniziamo con quella che io chiamo ” La guerra dei bottoni” perchè mettere a dormire tanti bambini insieme può far diventare una camera un vero campo di battaglie vere e immaginate. Come risolvere una stanza per 3, 4, 5..figli? O un figlio con tanti tanti amici e cugini? Basta tornare piccoli e usare l’immaginazione, queste stanze dei sogni sono per voi!
“… I’m gonna count up to three! If your are not all in bed, in your pyjamas, teeth brushed, there’ll be trouble … no Carousel on TV for two days!” And so, come one, kids, all to bed!
But we’d better not forget that the path to enter Morpheus’ realm is not always a straightforward one: you need to relax and slowly gliding into sleep. Kids make use of those moments to remember and fancy out things, to daydream. A bed is actually a bed, but can it be something more than that? Of course it can … it is a safe shelter, a furniture piece full of magic which is able to turn them into princes and queens, it’s a dynamic springboard and much else. And so I’ll plunge with you into the wonderful world of the bedrooms devised for any kind of kids. They may be little rascals, serious, funny, numerous and single. Let’s start with what I name “The button war”, as putting many kids to bed all together can really morph a bedroom into a real battlefield, where actual or even fancied wars can happen. How can we arrange a bedroom for three, four, five … children? Or even for a single kid with a lot of friends and cousins? You’ll only need to get back to your childhood and to use your imagination: these dream rooms are for you!
Inauguriamo una nuova sezione che adoro: micro spazi, mini case.
Ho vissuto per anni in una ex portineria di circa 40 mq affacciata su un giardino. Mi sono goduta ogni centimetro senza mai risentire degli spazi piccoli. Ho imparato a valutare le scelte in base allo spazio ridotto come ad esempio le pentole con il manico scomponibile, bicchieri impilabili, coperte e non piumini giganti, asse per stirare pieghevole in formato mignon, armadio a muro composto da scaffali industriali e tende a pacchetto per evitare aperture ingombranti, mini lavello, mini stoviglie e mini frigo…Da qui nasce la mia passione per gli spazi piccolini che richiedono ingegno e fantasia per essere vivibili e ben sfruttati. Sicuramente alcune cose richiedono il su misura, ma ne vale sempre la pena.
Partiamo con la mia adorata ex casa “verde Bloomsbury”, così chiamato dalla pittrice Victoria Bell, sorella di Virginia Wolf. Per poi raccontare 4 piccole idee assolutamente frutto di grande creatività. Cosa ne pensate?

We’re going to open a new section I do love: micro-spaces, mini-homes. I lived for years in a 40 square meters large former porter’s lodge overlooking a garden. I enjoyed each single inch and never suffered because of the narrow spaces. I learned how to choose things according to the small space available, such as for instance pots with knock-down handles, stackable glasses, blankets instead of enormous duvets, foldable small-sized iron boards, built-in closets made up of mass-produced shelves and Roman shades to avoid bulky openings – and then a small basin, small dishes and a small fridge…
This is where my passion for the small spaces comes from: a fine brain and fantasy are required to live in there and to use them to the utmost. Definitely some bespoke things will be needed, but it’s worth while, it is. Lets’ start with my beloved former “Bloomsbury green” house, named after the painter Victoria Bell, Virginia Wolf’s sister. To go on telling you about four little ideas which are the brainchildren of a great creative mind. What do you think about it?
