Grazie Grazia!
I spent a special day, busy with a photo shoot for an article which is coming out in the magazine Grazia. What a “c … bip … ool … th … bip … ing … bip and double bip!!”. Well, a sheer joy! The day before I created the horror room where I had been stacking anything whatever in a feverish mood. I can assure no one would have dared get in. Some drawings on paper sheets made by the lively dwarf with his fingers, a talking globe which keeps on stubbornly standing mid in the living room, a rickety tea trolley which badly needs to be fixed, but is left in the same place anyway – I sometimes tried out the Samantha’s-little-nose move (Bewitched), and there pops up my mother-in-law! Beyond me! And many more things in addition, floating undisturbed in the general chaos even after weeks. It’s no longer my office as I’ve also occupied the chair, of course. But I had not considered that a certain depth was needed for the shoot of the entrance, so the photographer, Helenio, kindly asked me to enter that room with the door closed. A boxing match broke out inside me, No, you can’t, oh yes, you’ve got to, open the door, I won’t, you foolish thing … For the rest of the day we chatted, we set the table over and over again, moved flowers, seized my son while he was running away as quick as lightning exactly at the very time of the shoot, almost always hitting Helenio’s tripod, and we also tried to make it up with the clearest flaws. But after all imperfection is good. The journalist, Barbara, has got a glib tongue which is rather catching, so you eventually realise you’ve been speaking and chatting on any possible topics, even though a true repartee interview has never taken place. On definitely any possible topics, but luckily she is very good at epitomes, and she will tell about you ridding your talk of any useless trifles. The magazines I love so much are not only inspirational for me, they also mean hard working days by Helenio and Barbara entering the homes of the different people equipped with tripod and notebook to tell their stories. Long live the paper! printed, torn and crumpled. Long live the magazines! Thank you Grazia!
